Child stars are often properly groomed for the limelight – they are taught the rudiments of the celebrity lifestyle and how to navigate the topsy-turvy torrents of mild chaos they are tossed in, on account of their fame. Yet, they hardly seem fully aware of the principles of growing up – from the unfamiliar waters of wealth management and business finance to how to react when your fortune comes crashing down in a pile of bankruptcy pleas; nobody usually cares for real-life lessons. Thankfully, it isn’t all sob stories for our favorite acts - while some celebs take credit for a few bad choices, others put their earnings and dividends to good use. Today, whatever the case, they are all grown up and newsworthy. Let's take a look at some of the child stars that kept on shining, and those that didn't...

Boy, oh boy, has The Partridge Family created many stars of its actors. We're starting to wish we'd been on the show, too! At 17, Susan Dey played Laurie on the sitcom. The proceeds sure helped her keep a clean credit report in her adulthood. After the show's end, Dey was the only member of the cast who didn't participate in reunions. She later starred in L.A. Law, earning her a Golden Globe. She has maintained a low profile since.

Sadly, Heather suffered from an intestinal condition that was misdiagnosed by a Los Angeles hospital, leading to her untimely death in 1988. Since he's managed to keep a stable career all these years, it's likely that he'll keep making good money if he doesn't succumb to the abysmal wealth management "curse" that plagues many celebrities. Danny Lloyd wasn't the only child actor Stanley Kubrick relied on to film The Shining. Kubrick also cast ten-year-old twins Lisa and Louise Burns in the movie to spooky effect. Unlike five-year-old Lloyd, the twins were well aware of the movie's horrific nature and graphic violence, having to film some scenes covered in fake blood. Following graduation, Adam opted to spend some time behind the camera, finding fulfillment (and presumably paying off some steep student loans) with various writing jobs in Los Angeles. As of 2018, Hann-Byrd has written for The Morning After on Hulu and has worked as a fellow in the Warner Brothers Television Writers Workshop.
Mason Gamble - Marine Biologist
Young Mason Gamble must have had a mischievous energy that producers couldn't turn down. He was hired from a pool of 20,000 other child actors to play Dennis the Menace in the 1993 movie reboot of the classic comic strip. Gamble subsequently appeared in the 1996 Leslie Nielsen spoof Spy Hard and the 1998 indie hit Rushmore before winding down his acting efforts to complete his education. After Home Alone, the actor mostly appeared in small-budget movies and the occasional TV show before re-emerging with his controversial documentary Courting Condi in 2008. Dana Hill - Deceased
Young Dana Goetz's father made a living directing commercials, so when she first started acting, she took her mom's maiden name of Hill to avoid the appearance of having an industry advantage. After wrapping up the movie, Hill went behind the scenes, providing voices for cartoon characters in everything from Darkwing Duck to Rugrats. She died a few months later in July 1996.

Judy Garland wasn't the only child actress to find fame in a Frank L. Baum adaptation. In 1985, 11-year-old Fairuza Balk starred as Dorothy in a dark and twisted movie adaptation of Return to Oz. Her screen presence and distinctively eerie looks propelled Balk to roles in spooky movies like The Worst Witch and, most notably, 1996's The Craft. Maureen McCormick - Reality Star and Actress
She's best known for playing annoyingly perfect Marsha Brady on The Brady Bunch, but child actress Maureen McCormick had found success even earlier, appearing alongside Elizabeth Montgomery on Bewitched in 1964 and on I Dream of Jeannie in 1966. McCormick's prominent role on The Brady Bunch inspired a lengthy career in film and TV. And if Maureen's syndication earnings from the long-running sitcom weren't enough to pay off her mortgage and other debts, the resurgence of interest in the show after 1995's Brady Bunch Movie must have. Maureen McCormick published an autobiography in 2008. She continues to act to this day.

While Zach popped up in a string of low-budget horror movies throughout the '90s, he never attained the same fame he found in Gremlins. As he aged, Nemec continued to appear on television shows and in science fiction and horror movies. He is also a known printer who takes credit for doing photographic processes like collodion and Woodburytype.
Madeline Zima - Steady Acting Career

Taran Noah Smith - DUI & Drug Possession
We're sure Taran Noah Smith never needed to make any loan or mortgage application because of the money he had earned through the role he had in Home Improvement. This was notwithstanding his history of getting arrested for driving under the influence and caught for possession of marijuana.

Jimmy Workman - Technical Crew
We're sure most of you recognize Jimmy Workman because he was the cute chubby boy from the movie, The Addams Family. His earnings through acting were shortlived though because nothing great really happened to his acting career after the '90s. Despite growing up in Hollywood, he never got himself involved in any addiction or run-ins with the law. Jimmy is now a non-showbiz person, except maybe for the fact that he now works behind the camera as a member of the technical crew. Matthew Lawrence - Part Of A Band
Matthew Lawrence might already be pushing 40, but he is truly one of those actors who get even more good-looking as the years pass. Worse, he had to face arrest once when he attempted to rob a bank! He is currently fulfilling his 2-year probation and seeking treatment for his problem with narcotics abuse.
Mackenzie Phillips - Few Acting Stints
Mackenzie Phillips was only twelve when she was discovered by a casting agent. She was later able to star in the movie, American Graffiti. This was only the start for her because she eventually bagged even bigger roles in shows like So Weird and One Day at a Time. Financial struggles like unpaid credit card bills didn't seem to be in her vocabulary because she was earning so much money at the height of her career. Mackenzie has a recurring role in the reboot of One Day At A Time.

He currently works behind the scenes as an executive producer, for shows such as Fox Sports Radio's The Ben Maller Show.
Raushan Hammond - Magician
Hook's Raushan Hammond gained popularity at a young age. He was the cute chubby boy who portrayed the role of Thud Butt. As he grew older, he wanted to step away from his chubby character so he decided to embark on a weight loss transformation. However, he also ended up putting his acting career to a stop because he just couldn't make it big in the industry as he grew older. As a fallback, he studied magic and he later became a respected magician. Let's just hope his work as a magician could help him pay all his expenses.
Chris Furrh - Served Jail Time
Chris Furrh received his big break in acting in the '90s when he was given a role in the movie, Lord of the Flies. But his earnings in the '90s were not that big because he only appeared in a few movies. He was another actor with a short-lived career and an early retirement. These days, he looks far different from his younger/innocent self because he chose to sport the "bad boy" look and get covered in tattoos. He also couldn't keep his slate clean because he had a run-in with the law that made him spend serve some jail time in a Texan prison.
Erin Moran - Died Due To Throat Cancer
Erin Moran was most remembered for her run with the show Happy Days where she gave life to the character of Joanie. She was also lucky enough to be able to reprise her role in the show's spin-off called Joanie Loves Chachi. But as it turned out, she didn't manage to keep on bagging roles as she grew older and was on her way to bankruptcy. She was 56 years old at the time of her passing.
Mark-Paul Gosselaar - Slow, But Steady Career
Actor-model Mark-Paul began his acting career back in the mid-'80s by doing small roles in various TV shows and films. The role that would catapult him to real stardom and strengthen his acting portfolio was when he played Zack Morris in the TV sitcom, Saved by the Bell. Even if she already started her acting journey at a very young age, she somehow felt like it was not for her because she decided to enter retirement when she was only seven. These days, she's well into her 30s and is enjoying a quiet life outside of Hollywood. Sources say that she is studying to earn a political science college degree.
Candace Cameron – Fitness Fanatic and Author
She gained international fame for her role as DJ Tanner in the ‘80s sitcom Full House. Now Cameron-Bure, the actress took a hiatus shortly after her marriage and children so as not to not miss her time with family, but she has since eased her way back to Christian entertainment circle. Her latest book, Kind is the New Classy, is only one of her many exploits as her reputation as a New York Times best-selling-author precedes her. Bure also broadens her scope by offering fitness tips on social media.
Abigail Breslin – Impeccable Reputation
It is not too often that Hollywood births its own ‘goody-two-shoes,’ but Abigail Breslin has managed to remain our own Little Miss Sunshine a full decade after being cast for the role. While enjoying tremendous career success, the actress has also been a fixture in charity and philanthropic circles as she inches her way toward a career in producing and directing. It seems not so long ago that we've seen this irresistibly cute little girl on-screen who started making money at such a young age.
Nicholas Hoult - First NSPCC Young Person Ambassador
Of all his many achievements, nothing speaks more of the character of Nicholas Hoult than his appointment as the first ‘young person ambassador’ for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. Between the dividends of his successful early career and the commercial success of his breakout films, Mad Max and X-men, we can only imagine that the actor has earned enough money to found his own charity organization. Indeed, what better way is there to spend your earnings than philanthropy?
Evanna Lynch – Battled Anorexia
Evanna Lynch immediately ascribes credit for being cast in the Harry Potter series to her obsession with the books. After corresponding with J.K Rowlings, being cast as Luna Lovegood was only a matter of time and chance – and at 11, her chance came. Now 26, Lynch has built a fairly sturdy acting career on account of her earlier obsession and had prospects to become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actresses until her battle with anorexia began. Today, she works with women around the world to battle the menace of her eating disorder. We daresay that a part of her time, effort, and money goes to her humanitarian work.

Freddie Highmore - Made His Screenwriting Debut
Between Women Talking Dirty and Finding Never-land, Freddie Highmore didn’t have much of a chance at escaping fame and fortune. His 1999 film debut ushered the model and actor into the Hollywood limelight and afterward, he would land a series of significant roles. It would be the time when he would also make the transition from a gawky looking boy to a full hunk of a man – that is, complete with the buoyant bank account to boot. As if to impress us even further, Highmore has also launched his scriptwriting career in the bid to expand his scope and earnings. Who knows what the future holds for the promising 26-year-old?
Miko Hughes - Beekeeper & DJ
We got to know Miko Hughes since he was two years old in a public service announcement, and especially after his Apollo 13 role, we thought he would become huge. Hughes had other, unusual, plans though, and he's now a beekeeper! While others might find that taking care of 30,000 bees is so odd and even dull, Miko seems to love it, and he's probably going to do it for the rest of his life. When he's not taking care of his favorite bees, he's often traveling to California, where he works as a DJ. A beekeeper and DJ must be one of the weirdest profession combinations we have ever seen! But then again, if doing what he loves brings in great money, then let's argue no more.
Keshia Knight Pulliam - Eventually Disappeared From The Spotlight
Keshia Knight Pulliam made her first TV appearances as a child star for famous brands' commercials, and her sweet smile and charismatic character eventually earned her a spot in the famous The Cosby Show, playing Rudy, where people truly got to know her. There have been rumors about her struggling with drug addiction, but there are no official reports confirming that yet. As of 2013, she has tried her luck on many celebrity TV competitions (maybe as a refinance strategy?) such as Splash, but she somehow she's always managed to get eliminated early on from every show. In the last couple of years, she has disappeared from the limelight, and she is probably focused on raising her child, after becoming a mother in 2017.
Sean Astin - Recently Appeared In Stranger Things
We'll always picture American actor Sean Astin as Samwise Gamgee, Frodo's loyal companion in the classic The Lord of the Rings trilogy. To this day, this has been his most successful role, and he's earned a huge fan base by playing one of our favorite Hobbits. However, Astin has been able to land numerous other important roles afterward, and his most recent performance was in 2017, where he appeared in the second season of the hit TV show, Stranger Things. When not on set, Astin is a known political activist, and he recently used his business finance knowledge to support Hillary Clinton's 2016 Presidential Election campaign.
Angus T. Jones - Biting The Fingers That Fed Him
Angus Jones may have made a few other appearances on TV and film, but it is on account of his role on the controversial sitcom, Two and a Half Men that the actor became a notable face and name. Surprisingly, Jones has been anything but enthusiastic about the show that brought him into the limelight – stating that its content is no better than ‘filth.’ However, with some top-notch financial planning and wealth management, we suppose he can afford to make unsightly comments considering he had spent over a decade making $300K per episode from the sitcom.
William Zabka - Will Co-Direct & Appear In The Karate Kid Remake
The Karate Kid became an American favorite immediately after its release, and one of the actors who played the main antagonist was William Zabka. Zabka rose to fame much faster than he expected. However, a while later, he decided to give up acting to become a producer, director, and screenwriter. He seems to be doing fine, even without a huge net worth, and his fortune is estimated to be around $500K. The Karate Kid fans are thrilled to hear that he will re-appear in the 2018 remake of the movie in the form of a TV series, named Cobra Kai, which he will also direct alongside Ralph Macchio.
Mae Whitman - Builds Up On Her Film Portfolio
Mae Whitman became famous as a child actor in One Fine Day, and after playing the President's kid in Independence Day, she landed her first major role in the 2015 movie, The Duff. Whitman expanded her acting market outlook by doing voice work for various TV shows like Family Guy or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and she has also given her voice to many video-game characters, like Cynder of The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night. She's still involved in the acting industry and she's set to appear in new movies in 2018, like Valley Girl.
Amy O'Neill - Works As A Circus Performer
Amy O'Neill's first contact with fame came through her part in The Young and the Restless, but her breakthrough role was in the Disney classic Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. However, apart from her kids on-screen, her acting career shrunk as well, as she didn't manage to land any other meaty roles, and she gave up acting especially after being offered roles which required nudity. After her acting retirement, she turned to circus performances, where she's had pretty serious earnings as a part of the Girls On Stilts circus act, with which she has toured both in America and in Europe.
Josh Brolin - Starring In Avengers: Infinity War
Josh Brolin made his debut appearance in the famous movie The Goonies, and since then, he has taken Hollywood by storm, capitalizing on the popularity he gained from his first role. In fact, he was even nominated for an Academy Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for his work in the film Milk, while his performance in No Country for Old Men was astounding. Brolin came from obscurity to build a pretty remarkable credit report, and his tough-looking physique is perfect for 'Thanos,' the villain in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War, a character he's played in said film to much applause.
Kerri Green - Now Mostly Involved In Screenwriting & Directing
Just like Brolin, Kerri Green came to prominence by appearing on The Goonies. She then landed a few roles during the '90s (which were not enough to fill her savings account), but gradually, she almost abandoned acting, but not the acting industry entirely. Green founded her own production company, the Independent Women Artists. She directed and released a movie in 1999 called Bellyfruit, a story about a teenage girl who gets pregnant. She made her acting comeback in the 2012 movie Complacent, but she's mostly focused on her company.
Thomas Brodie-Sangster - Increasing His Popularity As An Actor
Thomas Brodie-Sangster is an absolute British favorite, rising to stardom with his appearance in Love Actually, opposite Liam Neeson. The movie has become a classic since then, and Brodie-Sangster became a well-sought-after actor. Building upon his acting portfolio, he landed acclaimed roles in the TV shows Stig Of The Dump and Nanny McPhee. His recent appearance in the Game of Thrones series skyrocketed his career, and his latest role was in the 2018 movie, Maze Runner: The Death Cure. He has also won a Teen Choice Award for his performance in Chemistry.
Olivia Olson - Having a Not-so-good Acting Career
Just as we mentioned above, Love Actually has become a Christmas classic, and each year, families gather around their fireplace to watch it during the holidays. Olivia Olson was Thomas Sangster's co-star in the movie, yet, she never managed to become as popular as she would've wanted to be. Though rumor has it that after the movie's end, she was offered a contract by a recording company, which she eventually turned down, everyone remembers her singing All I Want For Christmas is You. However, all that Olson would likely want is to refinance herself, as she hasn't managed to land another notable role except for the film's 2017 sequel, Red Nose Day Actually.
Bryton McClure - Raises Awareness Of Drunk Driving
Bryton McClure's face was seen on screen the first time on account of his TV commercial appearance when he was just two, and he even appeared alongside Michael Jackson. He came to prominence by playing Richie Crawford in the hit series Family Matters, and he became even more famous, thanks to his performance in the CBS soap opera, The Young and The Restless. McClure is the founder of RADD, which stands for Recording Artists Actors and Athletes Against Drunk Driving, struggling to raise awareness against alcohol abuse, especially when people are behind the wheel.
Elisabeth Shue – From Harvard To The Big Screen
Not many people would drop out of Harvard University to pursue an acting career, but in the case of Elizabeth Shue, it was totally worth it. Debuting in The Karate Kid, she appeared in several other blockbusters like Cocktail and Back to The Future II & III. When she realized that she didn't require a student loan, she returned to Harvard, from which she acquired her B.A. in Political Science. However, she never gave up acting, and she even starred in the 2018 movie, Death Wish. We're curious about what her next project would be.
Alex Vincent - Still Appearing in Horror Movies
Alex Vincent's acting career has always revolved around horror movies, and especially around the Child's Play franchise. The Chucky doll literally seems to haunt him, as even his latest film appearance had been in the movie Cult of Chucky (2017). During the mid-'90s, he disappeared from the acting industry, and we really don't know how he earned money in the bank back then, until his movie comeback in 2008, in Dead Country. He is also a sound engineer, owning the AV Productions Recording Studio and Production Company in Florida.
Robert Oliveri - Left Hollywood A Long Time Ago
When we first saw Robert Oliveri in Honey I Shrunk the Kids, we were stunned by his talent, and he went on to appear in the movie's sequel as well, Honey I Blew Up The Kid. He was nominated for a Teen Choice Award and a Saturn Award, and he even played opposite Winona Ryder in the classic film Edward Scissorhands. Despite the seemingly bright future, Oliveri opted to leave the limelight in 1994, and we have no clue about his retirement planning or about what he's up to today, though many reporters have claimed that he now has a family.
River Phoenix - Deceased
Everyone was shocked when River Phoenix was found dead in 1993. Rising to stardom through the movie Stand by Me, it was more than obvious that, because of talent and looks, he was destined for great things and a huge net worth. Just imagine that in his second movie, The Mosquito Coast, he played alongside Harrison Ford, and he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the 1988 film Running on Empty when he was just 18 years old. Sadly though, his career and life ended earlier than everyone expected. In October 1993, he collapsed and eventually passed away outside The Viper Room in Los Angeles, after his drug abuse caused a heart failure.
Carl Steven - Passed Away While In Prison
Carl Steven made a name for himself when he appeared in numerous TV shows and films, especially in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, where he played young Spock, an honor which only Leonard Nimoy had at the time. After landing a minor role in Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, he became addicted to prescription drugs, and he decided to start stealing to support his addiction. He was eventually incarcerated for 13 years and died in 2011 due to a heroin overdose in his prison cell, in Tuscon, Arizona.
Anthony Michael Hall - Continues Acting Despite Past Alcohol Issues
Just like many child stars, Anthony Michael Hall started appearing in commercials at a young age and later went on to land his first acting job. His breakthrough role was in the movie National Lampoon Vacation. From that point, he became a teenage-girl fantasy, especially in the movie The Breakfast Club. Armed with perhaps just a modest amount of money, he took a break from acting due to his alcohol abuse issues, only to return much stronger and appear in The Dead Zone and The Dark Knight. Having left his past behind, he keeps captivating the audiences, even now that he's pushing 50.
Jerry O'Connell - Recently Starred in the Justice League Films
Jerry O’Connell made a name for himself by playing Quinn Mallory in the TV show Sliders, and since then, his acting portfolio has been remarkable. He went on to appear in Stand by Me, Jerry Maguire, and Scream 2, becoming one of the most prolific actors of the '90s. Recently, he starred in the Justice League saga, from 2015 to 2017, and he even appeared in one episode of the hit show, The Big Bang Theory. He's currently married to Rebecca Romijn, and they've been madly in love since 2007. O'Connell has won two Teen Choice Awards.
Jake Lloyd - Battling Schizophrenia
For die-hard Star Wars fans, Jake Lloyd needs no introduction at all. Between his breakout role in Jingle All the Way and landing the enviable role of Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars, Lloyd was on the fast track to international repute as soon as he hit the big screen. Sadly, a large portion of his time and earnings is now being spent battling schizophrenia which will, no doubt, mortgage his chances of proceeding with his acting career. But after dropping out of school and reportedly attacking his own mother, a psychiatric hospital seems like the last resort for the actor.
Peter Billingsley - Director & Producer
Unlike many stars who find fame practically overnight, for Peter Billingsley, success came gradually but surely. Best known for his role in A Christmas Story, and later in Four Christmases, Iron Man, and The Break-Up, he then turned his focus away from being an on-screen actor to a behind-the-screen producer. Having grown up with good principles, he seems to have been practicing good wealth management and not squander his hard-earned paychecks like so many in Hollywood do.
Jeremy Jackson - Nearing Oblivion
Jeremy Jacksons’ best days seem to be behind him – and every keen follower of the ‘90s hit TV series, Baywatch, will agree that the highlight of Jacksons’ career was clearly playing the on-screen son of star actor, David Hasselhoff. After making a handful of other appearances, including a brief stint on Celebrity Big Brother, Jackson delved in and out of music only to begin battling drug addiction and having multiple run-ins with the law. Today, the actor/musician has inadvertently slipped into retirement following his 2017 jail sentencing for stabbing. Now, if that isn’t a sad story then we don’t know what is.
Elijah Wood - Fading From The Limelight
From modeling gigs to commercial ads, Elijah Wood must have had a very busy childhood. By adolescence, the actor was anything but merely thriving. However, his role in the internationally acclaimed series, Lord of The Rings was what catapulted him to worldwide fame – and being Frodo sure had its dividends. Nearly two decades after the release of the last Lord of The Rings, the actor still can't shake off the influence of being Frodo despite his attempt to dabble in other productions. It may well be the reason why his influence might be wearing thin. He will always be Frodo to us, but that can’t be good for future productions.
Brooklyn Beckham - Modelling, Art & Photography
Often strapped to his father’s arm, Brooklyn Beckham is one celebrity kid who attained a celeb-status without even trying. With his father being a world-renowned football player and his mother a former singer and now a businesswoman, the teenager could very well choose to live off his parents' combined net worth all the days of his life. But Brooklyn clearly did otherwise. While his chosen field of interest might not fast-track him to a bank account like that of his parents, it should see him making a name for himself in no time.
Chloe Grace Moretz - Model & Actress
American model and actress Chloe Grace Moretz already has a very impressive modeling and acting portfolio. Between television and magazine covers, it is a wonder that she has any time for her private life. Her first role was in the movie The Amityville Horror in 2005 but the popular actress didn’t stop there as she started landing roles, one after another. She made an appearance in (500) Days of Summer, The Poker House, Let Me In, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Moretz gained huge popularity with her part in Kick-Ass and its sequel, Kick-Ass 2. She is about to appear in the thriller The Widow, in 2018.
Zac Efron - Made The Forbes Celebrity 100 List
Zac Efron has managed to upstage a number of other Hollywood relics and leading men despite being barely two decades old in the industry and only 30 years old. His ticket to fame was, without a doubt, his leading role in the hit High School Musical franchise in which he was able to exploit and portray the multiplicity of his talents, making him one of Hollywood’s most versatile talents. It is no wonder that he has made it to the reputable Forbes celebrity 100 lists. If his talent is anything to go by, then his earnings should have his bank account bursting at its seams.
Selena Gomez – Executive Producer of 13 Reasons Why
When Selena Gomez made her ‘big’ Hollywood debut, she was a wide-eyed 10-year-old on the set of the hit children TV series, Barney & Friends. Fast forward ten years and Gomez has eased her way into the film industry and is being cast in the likes of Another Cinderella Story, Spring Breakers, and the Disney series, Wizards of The Waverly Place. Barely two decades after her debut, Gomez has become a renowned actress and singer with a production company reputed for the highly controversial series, 13 Reasons Why. Talk about starting from the bottom!
Tina Majorino - Acting & Musician
Tina was a very busy child actress in the '90's, and appeared in movies such as When a Man Loves a Woman, Corrina and Waterworld. She took a break from acting in 1999, and returned to play in small roles. Today she has a rock band that she started with her brother, and she still acts in movies and TV shows.
Tami Stronach - Slowly Coming Back To Acting
Tami Stronach's career started in the '80s when she portrayed the role of the Childlike Empress in the film, The Neverending Story. But then that was her most memorable acting credit as she discontinued her career because her parents were afraid that she would end up in drug and alcohol rehab like a lot of Hollywood starlets. She later grew up living a normal life and developed a love for dance. In fact, she has been a part of the Neta Dance Company and was able to have numerous performances. These days, she is set to make a comeback in acting and is going to appear in the upcoming movie, Ultra Low.
Tom Holland – Getting Ripped For Spider-Man
Tom Holland may only be 21, but the actor has been able to go from being diagnosed with dyslexia in his early years to become one of Hollywood’s most prominent acts – now, that is a feat certainly worth celebrating. While he was born into the family of a reputable author and broadcaster like Dominic Holland (giving him a head start), only natural talent and real prowess can land you the coveted role of Peter Parker in the astoundingly popular Spiderman film series. We can only imagine how beneficial the role must have been to his bank account.
Dan Pipoly - Quiet Life
Danuel Pipoly was another known '80s name who took his craft seriously. He didn't settle for mediocre performances for he actually was praised for his talent as a young actor. He is most remembered for the role he had in the film The Lord of the Flies and he was fortunate enough to get award nominations for it. He managed to continue his earnings through acting through roles he had in The Giant of Thunder Mountain and The Torkelsons. But as when grew older, he decided to leave the acting industry for good.
Demi Lovato – Global Citizen Ambassador
Much like her comrade in arms, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato debuted as a child actress in Barney and Friends but rose to fame after her role in the 2008 Disney film, Camp Rock. The actress has since debuted a music career and a reputation for being an author as well as a philanthropist. Given her active participation in charity, the singer/actress has been awarded a vast range of honorary titles, including the Ambassador of Mean Stinks and most recently, the Global Citizen Ambassador aimed at championing mental-health related issues.
Elle Fanning - That's The Teen Spirit
Both Elle and her sister Dakota Fanning, have managed to grow up on the red carpet in full glare of the spotlight. While Dakota seems to be holding down in the fort in the fashion department, Elle is doing a remarkable job of becoming one of Hollywood’s most sought-after on-screen talents. In fact, since her 2001 debut in I Am Sam, the actress has evolved quite tremendously. In no time, the sisters should now have a combined net worth capable of insulating their future generations from bankruptcy – that is, assuming their hard work is commensurate with their earnings of course.
Jaleel White - Fueling His Legacy
For a man with an acting career that spans nearly his entire life, Jaleel White certainly doesn’t get enough attention. That notwithstanding, his role in the hit series Family Matters is one that is etched in the Hollywood sands of time. Little wonder his attempt to make a full comeback involves immortalizing the character he played in the ‘80s series – and his new CBS comic series Me, Myself and I aims to accomplish just that. Well, we certainly hope it is worth the investment, and he doesn’t merely mortgage a chance at building a new brand on account of his sentiments - that will surely not do his savings account any good.
Matthew Lewis – Girlfriends
Matthew Lewis’ career took off with him starring as Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter franchise. More than a decade after his debut, the actor boasts more than enough TV and film appearances to ease him of the burden of mortgage loans or bankruptcy – that is, assuming he knows his way around standard wealth management practices. And with productions like Girlfriends in the works, who knows how much further his career and earnings could skyrocket?
Brett Kelly - Actor
Brett Kelly is a Canadian-born actor who became popular for portraying the character of Thurman Merman in the 2003 comedy movie Bad Santa, where he acted alongside Billy Bob Thornton. He continued earning money as an actor, appearing in movies such as The Sandlot 2, Like Mike 2: Streetball, Trick ‘r Treat, and Unaccompanied Minors. Kelly didn’t have any significant roles where he could show his full potential. However, when there were talks about the sequel of Bad Santa, the actor didn’t think too much and decided to accept the role. In Bad Santa 2, Brett Kelly reprised his role of Thurman Merman.
Inger Nilsson - Occasional Stage Acting
Karin Inger Monica Nilsson was born and raised in Sweden, where she started an acting career at the age of eight. Nilsson is best known for her role as Pippi Longstocking in the TV series of the same name, produced in Sweden. The Pippi Longstocking series was later created in English, Dutch, and many other languages, and made into three feature films. The former child star now takes small stage roles, while building her earnings by working as a secretary in Stockholm. She was also a part of the reality TV show called Kändisdjungeln, competing as a celebrity contestant, back in 2009.
Amy Sakasitz - Chef
Amy Sakasitz portrayed the character of Margaret Wade, a friend of the mischievous kid named Dennis Mitchell in the 1993 comedy, Dennis the Menace. The former actress made a few appearances in the movies between 1992 and 1995, including a part of Stacy in the film, House Arrest. Sakasitz is also very active on Social Media, especially on Twitter where she claims that's now a chef (maybe that's how she earns money in the bank these days). Her last public appearance was in 2013 when she was a judge of the 2nd Annual Mid-Atlantic Beard and ‘Stache Championships. Unfortunately, there is not much information about Sakasitz’s whereabouts lately.
Robert Iler - Actor
Before he became one of the most popular actors in the world, Robert Iler began his career by doing commercials, which led him to appear in the 1995 music video with controversial rock star Marilyn Manson, where the latter's single called Dope Hat was featured. It was in 1999 when Iler gained the recognition he deserved when he was cast for the part of A.J. Soprano on the HBO series, The Sopranos. The famous actor stayed with the show for all six seasons, eventually growing up in front of the cameras. He also appeared in Oz, Tadpole, Daredevil, Four Kings, and The Tic Code. After a 7-year hiatus, Iler is back to acting, perhaps in the bid to make a comfortable living for himself without worrying about his credit card bills and other expenses.
Emma Watson - Women's Rights Activist
If the Harry Potter cast members were stratified according to current success, then Emma Watson would rank among the cream of the crop. Surprisingly, the actress’ film debut was in the hit franchise which garnered her earnings of up to $60 million as well as international fame and accolades. How does the actress spend her money? Unlike most 27-year-olds, she spends a considerable amount of it on charity and in pursuit of women’s rights – which you must agree is an invaluable investment.
Daniel Radcliffe - Voice Acting
Daniel Radcliffe was no doubt, the heart, and soul of the Harry Potter franchise. It is no wonder that he barely made other appearances for the length of its filming. But for a child once diagnosed with a mild neurological disorder, Radcliffe certainly broke new ground, and he amassed an impressive net worth as well for good measure. With the right financial consultant, the Harry Potter star may be living off his earnings for a long time. However, the actor has opted to dabble in other productions, including voice acting. Whatever the case, he will always be Harry Potter to us.
Christina Ricci – 'RAINN' Spokesperson
To say that Christiana Ricci has had a busy career would be putting it mildly. Since her breakout role in the ‘90s film The Addams Family, the actress has made more than 150 TV and film appearances translated into millions of dollars in earnings. Hence, it is quite incredible how she finds the time to juggle the role of the national spokesperson for RAINN – but given her affiliation to charity work and philanthropic organizations, this comes as no surprise.
Jennifer Love Hewitt - Slowing Down
While her red carpet transformation remains one of the most stunning transitions from a child star to an adult-size celeb, Jennifer Love Hewitt seems to be easing away slowly from the limelight. But then, we can only imagine that husband Brian Hallisay and their two children are at the center of her pseudo-hiatus. However, given Brian's earnings and the couple's combined net worth, there might be no harm in focusing on their family. The big screen and TV would sure miss the brunette stunner.
Josh Peck – Married & Estranged From Drake
Perhaps you never imagined that of the co-stars of Disney series' Drake & Josh, Josh would be the more attractive one. Well, welcome to an alternate reality. Not only has the actor made a successful transition from child to adult size Hollywood, but Josh Peck has managed to make a handful of TV and film appearances and marry his longtime partner Paige. Meanwhile, it's quite sad to learn that Drake is battling bankruptcy, depression, and being estranged from his on-screen brother and best friend.
Alexa Vega - Battled Bulimia
After her debut in the Spy Kids series, Alexa Vega became popular and in-demand on account of her stellar performance and remarkable delivery. The actress has since appeared in over 100 film and TV productions, raking in millions of dollars in earnings until being stalled by her battle with bulimia. Following her appearance on Dancing with the Stars, the actress gave a full disclosure of her battle, admitting that she has since recovered. We hope to see the dividends of said recovery. But for now, we wait.
Michelle Trachtenberg - Stunning Actress
Despite making her debut as a Nickelodeon actress, in the ‘90s series, The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Michelle has been able to morph from child actress to a brunette stunner somewhat overnight. But while she boasts of an overall stellar reputation, her on-screen characters have often been brought to question. Case in point: Dawn, in the Buffy: The Vampire Slayer series. That said, provided that her earnings and credit report remain unaffected, then we do not have any reservations. An actress is an actress after all.
Dakota Fanning - Acting & Modeling
The Fanning sisters seem to have Hollywood at their fingertips. With Elle taking center stage in acting, older sister Dakota proves to be a more versatile talent - mixing modeling and acting as a great way to refinance her growing net worth. Dakota boasts over 50 TV and film appearances and is a long way off from the braces-wearing 7-year-old version of herself that debuted her career in I Am Sam. And with a portfolio like hers, we bet her bank account has equally come a long way as well.
Blake Mciver - This Is Who We Are
From his role in the ‘80s sitcom, Full House to voicing Eugene in Hey Arnold! and co-writing the theme-song Along The River’for the hit film, End of The Spear, Blake McIver proves himself to be a versatile, stellar talent with every chance he gets. Most recently, the actor and songwriter snagged an Ovation award for his role in Little Boy. It was followed by the release of the popular ‘equality anthem’ reputably dubbed, This Is Who We Are. Judging by his job as host for Afterbuzz TV, it is quite unlikely that his earnings are anywhere near that of his counterparts. But in the light of his talents, who knows when he might strike gold?
Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson– Wading Through Controversy
Nearly a decade after her debut on TLC’s Toddlers and Tiaras, inadvertent reality star, Honey Boo Boo alias Alana Thompson has managed to stay in the limelight in the face of mild controversy. Following the cancellation of her reality show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo in 2014, critics assumed the teenager and her family might face bankruptcy given her dwindling earnings. But it is 2018, and between her questionable paternity and making stark remarks on Social Media, she certainly seems like she has her life all under control (but not really).
Anna Chlumsky – Married & Back on The Movie Scene
Anna Chlumsky has come a long way since her days as the adorable little Vada Sultenfuss in the 1991 movie, My Girl and its sequel, My Girl 2. No doubt the actress raised a lot of speculations after disappearing from the limelight in 1998, but it was her re-appearance nine years later that certainly caused a stir. Today, Chlumsky seems to be building her portfolio one appearance at a time – and is somehow managing that feat along with being a wife and a mother of two. You go, girl!
Jodie Sweetin – Defeated Addiction
Full House’s Jodie Sweetin is as known for her portrayal of Stephanie Tanner, as she is for frequenting luxury drug rehab and inpatient drug rehab centers. The star reportedly began to spiral following the conclusion of the ‘90s sitcom, but finally regained her footing after nearly 15 years of addiction. Today, Sweetin is clean, reprising her role as Stephanie Tanner on the Full House spin-off, Fuller House and hasn’t seen the inside of an inpatient drug rehab in a while. Now, that is how you clean up nice.
Zendaya - Shaking It All Up
The 21-year-old actress/singer first got busy with a modeling career. But after snagging the lead role of Rocky Blue in the series Shake It Up, there was nowhere to go but upward to reach for her star. This lovely young lady doesn't seem to know the word rest because aside from her acting and singing ventures (which of course make her a candidate for an unshakeable net worth in just a few years' time), she was written and published a book when she was 17 and has also been appointed an Ambassador for the Convoy of Hope - a charity organization that seeks to help and feed the needy.
Bonnie Wright - Acting & Filmmaking
Harry Potter fans would easily recognize who Harry's love interest is - Ginny Weasley, played by British actress Bonnie Wright. But perhaps what is most admirable about the former child actor is her thirst for knowledge and success, as evidenced by her being able to attend college and get a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the Arts: London College of Communication. And she did it in between filming the Harry Potter movies. We bet that she didn't need any student loan either, and by the time she had reached legal age, she has begun working on her wealth management strategies by venturing into screenwriting, directing, and producing.
Corey Feldman - Actor & Musician
When Corey Feldman began his career at only 3 years old, it was hard to tell that he would morph into a successful actor and musician. At 15, he sought emancipation from his parents (perhaps over earnings dispute) and he got the help of a lawyer. But while things in the homefront deteriorated, his career blossomed, and Feldman, now 46, is still enjoying the dividends of his popularity.
Soleil Moon Frye - Working Mom
Soleil Moon Frye was a popular child actress, best known for her TV show Punky Brewster. Frye was only 7 years old when she started shooting the sitcom. She is also an excellent example of wealth management, as she is today a very successful entrepreneur who runs a children’s online boutique. Probably her fame and a big bank account helped her in financing a business.
Danica McKellar - Acting & Writing Mathematics
Between her impressive Hollywood portfolio and noteworthy investment in educational activism, Danica McKellar is changing the narrative of what it means to be a pretty face and a Hollywood sweetheart more than 15 years after her on-screen debut. While McKellar admits that making the transition from child to adult actress proved to be a hassle, diverting her attention to writing mathematics books has undoubtedly been rewarding for the 43-year-old. At the rate that she's going, she might be ready for retirement at not such a distant time.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt - Filmmaker & Actor
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of the biggest Hollywood names of his generation. Today, he is an established movie star who began a rich acting career while he was still a little boy. His roles as a child star include those in films such as 10 Things I Hate About You, acting alongside the late Academy Awarded actor, Heath Ledger, as well as A River Runs Through It and Angels in the Outfield. Gordon-Levitt once left acting to pursue his studies and attend the Columbia University, but he never got a degree. Instead, he returned to acting and we are glad he did as he treated us with many great parts like those in Inception and The Dark Knight Rises. We bet that he believes in his talents and opportunities to enrich his credit report by sticking to acting.
Dana Plato - Deceased
Dana Plato was born to modest means in L.A.'s San Fernando Valley. After years of auditioning, she was cast on the popular sitcom Diff'rent Strokes in 1978. Unfortunately, it was during her time on the show that Plato developed an addiction to alcohol and narcotics, overdosing at just 14 years old. Dana's post-Strokes years were marked by addiction and money problems, including an incident in which she alleged that her financial planner made off with the majority of her savings. Dana Plato suffered a fatal opioid overdose in 1999 at just 34 years old.
Patrick Fugit - Actor
American actor Patrick Fugit became known to the wider audience as rock journalist William Miller in the 2000 film, Almost Famous. Fugit also starred in movies Saved!, White Oleander, Wristcutters: A Love Story, Dead Birds, and Spun. The popular actor continues to make money by appearing on the big screen and some of his latest works include a part in 20 episodes of the TV show, Outcast. Together with a friend, Fugit formed a band called, Mushman. The actor would sing sometimes and play the guitar. He is definitely as talented as he is gorgeous, we can all agree.
Alexandra Kyle - Actress
Alexandra Kyle is an actress from Los Angeles who gained popularity when she showed remarkable acting skills in the movie Eye for an Eye, back in 1996. Kyle and her fellow actor, Kiefer Sutherland, who also appeared in the same film, reunited again in the movie A Time to Kill, featuring many big Hollywood names, including Matthew McConaughey, Sandra Bullock, and Samuel L. Jackson, among many other notable names. Alexandra Kyle continues with her acting career, making earnings with recurring roles in the films such as Justified, Without a Trace, and Days of Our Lives.
Mindy Cohn - Still Acting
Fans of The Facts of Life will sure recognize Mindy Cohn because she was the young girl who played the role of Natalie. This opened a ton of doors for her because she was able to be cast in shows like Charles in Charge and 21 Jump Street. She also earned a lot of funds in her savings account, thanks to her success as a voice actress. She was the girl who was the voice of the character Velma in the Scooby-Doo franchise. Mindy has yet to retire and she's reportedly filming a new feature film called Hollywood Dirt.
Lacey Chabert - Singer & Actress
At the age of ten, Lacey Chabert stunned her audience with her acting abilities, when she appeared in two episodes of the soap opera, All My Children. Later on, she landed a role as Claudia Salinger in the TV drama Party of Five. Her film roles include the ones in Not Another Teen Movie, Lost in Space, Daddy Day Care, Black Christmas and her most notable part as Gretchen Wieners in the 2004 Mean Girls, featuring Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams. Though a young wife and a mom, she has opted to continue building her savings account through acting.
Alia Shawkat - Artist & Actress
Alia Shawkat did an amazing job as a child actress in the TV sitcom Arrested Development, rising to prominence and collecting mostly positive reviews for her performance on the show. The famous artist and actress was a cast member until the sitcom ended back in 2006. She reprised her role in the fourth season of the show, in 2013. Alia Shawkat continues with her acting career and with many roles in movies and TV shows, she is adding more zeroes to her net worth of $4 million. At the age of ten, the popular actress got her first role as Alex Dunphy in the TV series, Modern Family. As a voice actress, Winter received many positive reviews as the voice of Sofia in Sofia the First and as Penny Peterson in Mr. Peabody and Sherman. She has a lot going for her and we are positive that we’ll hear from Ariel Winter in the future, with many great parts heading her way.
Melissa Gilbert - A Star From The Start
We are sure that all of you remember the iconic NBC series Little House on the Prairie! Melissa Gilbert starred as Laura Ingalls Wilder for a decade while featuring in many television films like The Diary of Anne Frank and The Miracle Worker. But her personal life seemed to be a mess and as she revealed in her autobiography in 2009, she took the wrong path and she had to resort to drug and alcohol rehab to overcome her addictions.
Erin Murphy - Writer/Motivational Speaker
Just like the Olsen Twins on Fullhouse, Erin Murphy and her twin took turns in playing Tabitha Stephens on Bewitched. As the twins grew older and started to look different from each other (because they were fraternal twins), Erin was given the role full-time. After the show had ended in the 1970s, her acting career somehow came to an end, too. She didn't stop trying to earn money though because she later started working as a stylist, makeup artist, and even a casting director. These days, she does more work as a writer and a motivational speaker.
Hanson - Making a Comeback
The Hanson brothers were a band, that made it to the top of the charts with their hit MMMbop. The young brothers from Oklahoma earned several Grammy nominations for their debut album Middle of Nowhere. Since than they have turned to independent careers, but recently came together to make a comeback tour.
Jason J. Richter - Peaceful Life Away From The Spotlight
Jason J. Richter has had a lot of savings even at a very young age because he was already earning a lot of money through TV commercials. He later moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting and this was when he was cast as Jesse in the '90s movie, Free Willy. The '90s were great years for him because he was booking roles left and right. When his acting career slowed down, he decided to refinance himself by joining a band named Fermata and served as their bassist. These days, he doesn't do much acting anymore and is enjoying his quiet life outside of Hollywood.
Scarlett Johansson - Singer & Actress
Scarlett Johansson is one of the most successful actresses in the film industry. She started her career as a child star, showing an excellent performance in the 1994 movie, North. Growing up in the spotlight, Johansson started getting adult roles, the first one being in the 2003 film, Lost in Translation. Her many parts earned Johansson a net worth of $100 million and the famous actress is still very active on the big screen. Johansson has been married twice. Her first marriage was to American actor Ryan Reynolds but the couple divorced in 2011. She later married Romain Dauriac but divorced him as well in 2017.
Dylan & Cole Sprouse - Back In Hollywood
The Sprouse twins enjoyed remarkably successful acting careers as children, and from six years old until they began their hiatus in 2011, they were a fixture on the Hollywood scene. But after wrapping things up on their bachelor degrees, the pair is ready to be back on the Hollywood market, with Cole already landing his return role in the hit TV series, Riverdale. Despite their on-screen prowess, fans agree that it is the twins' off-screen banter that sets them apart. But given their combined net worth and earnings over the course of their career, their light-hearted ‘roasts’ of each other are clearly a luxury they can afford.
Jennifer Jason Leigh - Multi-Nominated
Jennifer Jason Leigh made her onscreen debut with the film Fast Times at Ridgemont High. As her career started growing, together with her bank account, the famous actress landed numerous roles in the years that followed, including films The Hitcher and Single White Female. After her father (actor Vic Morrow) passed away in a helicopter accident while filming, Jason Leigh and her family sued Warner Bros for his wrongful death, and the case was settled out of court.
Taylor Lautner - Acting, Modeling & Voice-Acting
Taylor started appearing on camera at the age of nine - doing small parts in films and commercials. His enormous break came when he was cast in the Twilight series where he played Jacob Black - a hottie for the most part, and a werewolf when gets angry. His role, which had him display his killer abs and dark good-looks, had earned him the vote of many for being one of the hottest men alive. These days, the 26-year-old actor and model keeps himself busy and his savings account filled with money by also doing voice-acting. That sure is one great way to refinance and grow whatever earnings he has amassed so far.
Morena Baccarin - Actress
Morena Baccarin owes her rise to fame to Ryan Reynolds, with whom she co-starred in the comedy action feature, Deadpool. But of course, it's not just Reynolds who helped but also her talent and her multi-nationality that helped her make a name for herself. Morena started her career back in the beginning of the 2000's in a little drama called Perfume and since then has appeared in hits such as The O.C. (where she probably met her husand Ben McKenzie), Stargate SG-1 and Homeland. Her star is definitely on the rise!
Nick Jonas - Solo Music Career
Very few people imagined the Jonas brothers would each pursue their solo interests given the commercial success of their boy-band. But as it turns out, even the prospect of losing millions of dollars in earnings is not a sufficient cause to remain a band. And with his brothers pursuing their individual concerns, Nick Jonas is doing a fairly decent job of breaking into the industry as a solo act. Now, if that fails, well...he always has an acting career to try his hands at. But given his bank account, it might be a while until he has to bother with bankruptcy.
Macaulay Culkin - From Acting to Music & Back
Despite getting off to a great start with his memorable roles in the Home Alone franchise, we seem to have lost Macaulay Culkin in a haze of drug abuse, poor financial planning, and mediocre wealth management. After failing to successfully transition to adult-size Hollywood, Macaulay’s final resort was to turn to music in 2013 – which only appeared to have done him minimal good until his band’s split in 2017. Currently, it looks like the actor has returned to his first love – acting. And we are eager to see him succeed.
Emil Minty - Jeweller
Emil Minty was an '80s child star who became most known for his portrayal as The Feral Kid in the movie, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. He never really had breakthrough roles in his other movies like Fluteman and The Winds of Jarrah as he just played minor parts. After he was done with his education, he never did go back to acting. These days, he is more focused on working as a jeweler and has a job in Chris Lewis Jewellers. He's living a life away from the spotlight and is just earning his keep while providing for his children.
Emmanuel Lewis - Producer
Though he’s always looked way younger than what he is, Emmanuel Lewis is 49 years old! He was born in Brooklyn back in 1971. By the ’80s, he was already a household name, starring in the Webster series. His acting career didn’t go so well after that, but he’s very much around.
Lewis recently took a turn in being a producer, helping with The American King – As Told by an African Priestess. The last time he acted was back in 2007 when he played in Kickin’ It Old Skool. Lewis’s always been relevant, though, as he was even called for an interview in Between Two Ferns in 2013.
Richard Keith - Musician
How does it make you feel that Richard Keith used to make $500 per week when he was only 3 years old? He used to tour as a drummer at the age of 3 before joining I Love Lucy as Little Ricky and becoming a star child actor! At 19, he went back to music joining the rock band David and the Giants. However, facing difficulties with his drug addiction led him to leave the group which disbanded not long after. Last year, the band recorded an album of their greatest hits.
