How it all started
After serving in the United States military for several years, Henry has returned to Hong Kong. His aim is to start a career as a teacher, so he goes back to his old high school, Tak Chi secondary. The principal notes that he does not have any teaching experience and seems reluctant. But luckily, as soon as a recommendation letter was shown to him from a higher army official, he was given the job. The principal informs Henry before he leaves that the class he has been assigned to teach is one of the worst ones in the whole school.
First day
On Henry's first day at school, he walks into his classroom to see that it is in a state of complete chaos. There are some students who are sleeping, some who are singing, some who are playing video games, while many of them are cooking ramen on a portable stove. Regardless of the fact that the teacher comes in, the students completely ignore him and continue what they are doing. When Henry tries to get their attention, the students pretend that they are not listening to him. It appears that he has given up trying to divert their attention and instead goes around the classroom commenting on the activities they are already engaged in.
The warning
As a warning, the students who are cooking are being asked to eat less ramen due to its high sodium content. Then Henry goes up to a guy named Zufa who is playing the ukulele, an instrument similar to a guitar but smaller which popularized in Hawaii, and he offers him assistance. In the same vein, he warns a gamer kid against the radiation that could be emitted from staring at a computer screen all day long. In any case, shall this be the case, it's too late for us all anyway, since that's a real thing and we all do this.
Catching the attention
As soon as the students start paying attention to him, he introduces himself to them and writes down his phone number and name on the board. He makes a joke about his horribly messy handwriting, which makes most of them laugh. Then, someone from the class calls him and asks him to leave the class, but Henry just laughs it off. Once again, the kids ignore him and continue with their activities that they were doing before he arrived.
After Henry has had enough, he uses a rubber band and a piece of chalk to trigger the fire sprinkler in the room. As soon as the students realize what is happening, they spread out quickly so as not to get wet. When the students realize what is happening, he finally gets their full attention and officially welcomes them to his class.
Students life
There is a group of five of the lowest-ranking students who gather in the sports supply room after class to smoke together. One of the leaders of the group, Jack, has a crush on an A-grade student from another class. As other students saw him looking at her picture, they made fun of him. A rivalry exists between this group and the rich and spoiled kids who play on the school's basketball team. As usual, they enter the supply room and mock Jack because he is poor. At a later time, Jack and the group were watching the basketball team practice while they were watching from nearby.tch them from nearby.
The school staff
The team leader falls as a result of Jack dropping a bottle on to the court. Miss Liang, the English teacher at the school, gives the group detention even though they laugh. The two play a prank on her by running away from her desk while she is busy cleaning it, so as to avoid detention.
On the other hand, the school's principal is distressed, since the education board is planning to deduct 20% of the school's annual budget. As part of their inspection of the school, the board members come to take a tour of where the funds are being spent. In the meantime, Henry enters the classroom where the students have set up a bucket of water to play a prank on him when he entered.
What happens next
Fortunately, his reflexes work faster than the falling bucket, and he is able to push it away with ease. There was astonishment on the faces of the students who had been waiting to make fun of him but who are then astonished by his quick movement. It is Henry who asks for Jack's packet of cigarettes, knowing that he is a smoker. As Jack hands him the pack, he is curious as to what he is about to do, so he simply hands him the pack. Henry then asks Zufa to tell him what the three main ingredients are in a cigarette.
Motivating
The student is given the privilege of skipping class the entire day if he answers the question correctly. It does not take long for everyone to start banging on their desks to express their desire to be able to skip class as well.o be able to skip class as well. When they stop, he hands each of them a cigarette and asks them to analyze it. Henry knows that if he simply mentions that the effects it has on their health, they will not take it seriously. Instead, he asks them about the outcomes of smoking cigarettes and explains to them how tar accumulates in their lungs when they smoke cigarettes. It is the first time that they are actually paying attention to the teacher and are actually interested in learning.
The obedience
The students reluctantly agree to return the cigarettes after the bell rings, and he asked them to do so after the bell rings. During the lunch period, Jack's friend Bruce, who is also on Jack's basketball team, is tripped on his leg by the captain of the team. As a result, there is a clash between the two groups, which quickly turns into a fight between the groups. As a result, food and tables are thrown back and forth, causing major damage to the area. The next day, Henry is informed that five of his classmates have been temporarily suspended from the class for starting the fight.
The fight keeps going on
Jack is fighting his opponent in the hallway when Henry comes across him. In response to Jack's request to calm down, the school accused Jack of being unfair for not punishing the rich.
The next day after school, Henry goes through the files of all five students to find out more about each of them.
First up is a guy named Zufa, the son of a Pakistani immigrant who is always subjected to discrimination due to his race. He is often accused of stealing by the police officers in the neighborhood in which he lives. Zufa's one and only wish in life is to become a musician someday.
Family background
Denan's one and only dream in life is to become a tennis player. Ever since her birth, she had been a disappointment to her father because he always wanted a son. It has been Denan's entire life that she has been trying to get her father's respect. In order to play the role of a boy, she even cut her hair to a shorter length as well as played with cars. Yet, her father doesn't seem to care about her at all, while he treats her younger brother like a prince. There are also two brothers named Bruce and Chris.
A hard past
When they were only kids, their mother ran away with a man, which caused their father to become an alcoholic. When the brothers were growing up, they could only depend on each other for guidance. In order to escape reality Bruce became obsessed with video games, whereas Chris worked long and hard to make money for the family by working in a grocery store. As regards Jack's family background, Henry is unable to locate any information about it.
Following, Jack is working as a waiter at a restaurant. Jianying, a MMA fan and a sports bettor, arrives at the restaurant with his business partners.
Bad habits
Jack steals Jianying's fancy lighter while she is not looking, but is caught when he is not looking. After he finds out that Jack is a student, Jianying's men beat him up as he checks Jack's ID. After finding out that Jack is a student, he gives Jack some money and offers him a job delivering food for Jianying's restaurant.
Meanwhile, Henry visits Zufa's home and finds him running away from his father and his associates after stealing a ticket from his father. At first he tries to help him, but after he finds out why he is being chased, he takes his father's side.
The first results
He and Zufa then came to hang out on the bridge together. Zufa's motivation comes from Henry, who sings with a band off the street to motivate him to do what he wants. Zufa, who was bullied at school many years ago, joins him and sings in front of other people for the first time since then.
At the same time, Bruce and Chris's father comes home late from work, like he always does, and asks them to bring him a beer from the store. In response, he yells at the brothers to get out of his house when they refuse. Afterwards, Henry meets with their father and convinces him to send his sons to rehab for the sake of their health.
Problems start at home
In the meantime, Denan's father brings her a bag of makeup products and asks her to pretend that she is a girl for a change. Denan is furious with him for always giving her the impression that she is not good enough. In order to get out of the house quickly, she applies the makeup on her younger brother and sneaks out of the house with her car key. The moment Henry stops her at the right moment, she is about to drive away in her father's car when she is stopped by Henry. The officer informs her that it is illegal for her to drive without a license and suggests that she find another way to get around.
Go-Kart
Once they have discussed this, they decide to go to a Go-Kart track. Henry also invites her father so they can race together. While the two are racing, the father and daughter show no mercy to each other and eventually end up outside the track. In the blink of an eye, Denan's go-kart is suddenly hit by a vehicle, but she manages to dodge it. Unaware of this, her father cries out in sorrow over the death of his daughter. In the end, Denan realizes that he does in fact love her; and then, as a result, he hugs her.
The next day
At school the next day, Bruce and Chris, along with a group of students, are sent to a rehabilitation center to interview a recovering alcoholic. To their surprise, they find out that the person they have to interview is their father.father. The students ask him how he became addicted to alcohol. According to him, he loved his wife dearly, but she abandoned him at the lowest point of his life, when he was at his lowest point. As a result, he began to drink and forgot that he had two children to take care of. It is not made clear that Bruce and Chris are the man's sons, but he apologizes to them. The brothers end up crying at the end of the film.
The gambler
Meanwhile, Jack has begun to work for Jianying, who is a professional MMA gambler. In the next game, Jack is offered a lot of money in return for drugging a fighter's drink. However, Jack is forced to accept the offer despite his reluctance. Jianying sponsors a fighter on the day of the fight, yet he bets money on him losing the fight. Jack tries to put drugs into the fighter's drink, but he is caught in the act. He is beaten up and locked inside a locker before he has the chance to blame Jianying. When Henry arrives there a while later, he asks the fighters if they have seen his student.
The locker
As the men ask him to return home, Jack yells for help from inside the locker, asking them to help him. When Henry learns that he is being trapped, he attacks them and overpowers them with ease. Henry dodges their attacks efficiently when the fighters step it up, but it gets a bit intense when they are stepping it up. It takes him less than a few minutes to knock out their best fighter who was supposed to compete in a few minutes. Suspense. After all, that is incredible!
Henry is getting treated for his wounds at the hospital in which they are filmed in the following scene.
The truth
It has been a long time since Jack has revealed the truth about Jianying, but he is now made to shut up. After the news had made its way to the television, Henry had started being known as the man who beat up a professional fighter in order to save his student. Since that time, he has gained a lot of respect and popularity in the school. In contrast to how they appeared earlier in the class, they actually stand up to welcome him and even shake his hand.
We see a flashback of Henry when he was in school, and he used to be a prankster. There was even a time when he threw water balloons at a student who was playing the piano for the parents during an event. A few days later, he fought the same student and broke his hand. It was after this fight that he was suspended and had to travel to the United States.
Back to the classroom
On that day, the students started paying attention to what Henry taught in class. They also started studying hard for the upcoming college entrance exam. All the students are doing well, except Bruce, who has developed a habit for taking pills. Bruce, on the other hand, became addicted to drugs to avoid his family's problems while Chris turned to video games. The reason for this is that he does very poorly on the mock entrance exam because he is unfocused. Henry promises to help him, but Bruce becomes increasingly depressed as the days go by. It is not long before he jumps off the balcony of their house.
The hospital
The man is rushed to the hospital and is placed in a coma. The media twists the story to blame what Bruce did on the school and Henry for what Bruce did. After Henry was interviewed by the officials from the education board, the decision was made to revoke his teaching license.
It is then that students chase him behind when he packs his things and leaves the school, asking him if he would like to stay. It is heartbreaking to see him away from them, but they know that as long as they pass their upcoming test, he will be proud of them.
And then…
From that day on, they studied twice as hard to prove to the board that Henry was a good teacher. As well as all his classmates, Jack receives a text from Henry on the morning of the test asking them to meet in the school about an hour before the test begins. The students assemble inside the school and find out that it was Jianying's plan to keep them confined in the school so that they would not be able to make it to the examination hall in time. Henry is doing this in order to teach him a lesson.
The fight
He finds out about Jianying's plan a few days later when he arrives at school. In order to prevent Jianying's people from harming the students, he frees the students and fights all of Jianying's people. While Henry fights Jianying, they escape and quickly make their way to the examination hall where they are escorted by the police. Jianying reveals that he was the guy that Henry threw water balloons at when he was a little boy while they were fighting one-on-one. It turns out that Henry was not able to participate in a big music competition since he broke his arm.
Making sense
Since then he hasn't touched a piano and blames Henry for ruining his dream of becoming a pianist. After Henry tries to talk sense into him, he is once again attacked.n attacked. Both of them struggle to get hold of the knife. At last, Henry is chased into killing him, but he doesn't succeed in doing so. As he walks away, he asks for forgiveness for what he had done when he was a little boy. The students arrive at the examination hall at the right time and take the test in the right manner as if nothing happened.
The end
Several weeks later, all of them have passed the test with flying colors. After a long time, Jianying starts playing the piano again, but he still has a lot of practice to do before he is as good as he used to be. Bruce recovers quickly from his illness and promises to appear at the entrance test for the next academic year. In addition, the principal is delighted because the board decides to give them twenty percent of the prize money because their students did very well in the entrance test. The fire sprinkle trick was performed on another batch of students by Henry when he returned to teaching.
